If last night’s rehearsal is any indication, tonight is going to be a blast.  Gospel living legend and king of choir music, Donald Lawrence, has written and produced new songs for the church community.  Tonight’s 2,400 guests will hear from music heavyweights such as Faith Evans, Kelly Price, Hezekiah Walker, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard and the list goes on.   Grammy nominated producer, Daniel Weatherspoon, is on set to lead the band!

The audience will be equally as star-studded with confirmed attendees like Richard Smallwood, Edwin Hawkins, Natalie Grant, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Coko (of SMV), Rudy Currence, Lalah Hathaway, Ted & Sheri, Dancer Laurieann Gibson and many more.

An emotional and grateful Donald Lawrence had this to say to Gospel Newsroom last night, “I’m not nervous about the concert.  I’m not nervous about that at all.  When you prepare there’s nothing to be nervous about.  I’m just overwhelmed with the love.  The love being shown towards me is too much.  I have 500 VIP guests coming in from all over.  We’ve had to accommodate 500 VIP’s and all that comes with that. The church seats 2,400 and I thought it would be big enough!”

This morning we received word that tonight’s service is being filmed by both a docu-film crew and CNN.  An appropriate capture of what Lawrence has brought to the Gospel music industry.

Billboard named Lawrence a “timelesss…tunesmith, lyricist and master of the mix.”  The creatively righteous mind of Grammy Award-winning producer, composer and recording artist Donald Lawrence has set the standard for excellence in the Gospel music field over the last two decades.

“Donald Lawrence is one of the top businessmen in Gospel.  Lots of respect for him.  He’s my secret adviser and he’s producing my live recording in September.  The top three influences on choir music are the late Walter Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins and Donald Lawrence,” said Karen Clark Sheard.
