New Leaders Appointed To COGIC’s General Board
Bishop J. Drew Sheard, Bishop Lawrence Wooten, Bishop Ted Thomas and Bishop Brandon B. Porter Ascend to the Presidium of the Church Of God In Christ

In the annual convocation of the Church of God in Christ held this week in St. Louis, Missouri, elections were held for the highest offices in the church. Bishop J. Drew Sheard (MI), Bishop Lawrence Wooten (MO), Bishop Ted Thomas (VA) and Bishop Brandon B. Porter (TN) won seats on the General Board, the highest-ranking leadership group of the church!
This prestigious Board now has two members barely in their 50’s, Bishop Sheard and Bishop Porter. This is certain to give the Board a new, fresh and innovative outlook on issues over the next four years. Both Bishops are active on social media, Social Cam®, current events, national telecast and state of the art technology! Both grew up in the church and have deep roots in its history.
Overall, the votes are in and here is you new General Board: Blake (Presiding Bishop), Macklin, Sheard, Brooks, Daniels, White,McKinney, Winbush, Wells, Porter, Thomas and Wooten (in order of votes).
The General Board of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. (COGIC) is responsible for establishing and executing policies for the membership, as well as sustaining and perpetuating spiritual order within the Church. These twelve bishops, chosen from the Board of Bishops, are voted into office by the General Assembly for a term of four years. Executive decisions made by the General Board are final unless revoked or modified by the General Assembly. The General Board convenes three times a year for official meetings in the months of April, November and at the time the presiding bishop deems necessary.
